Cu Chi Tunnel & Saigon City 1 day tour

Trip Name: Cu Chi Tunnel and City tour
Type of trip:
Private
Trip Duration: One day
Destination: Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam
Trip Grading:
Regular itinerary, moderate walking,

Flexibility: This sample itinerary can be amended accordingly to meet your expectation.

Highlights: This trip features a half day tour to the famous incredible Cu Chi tunnel just outside of Saigon and a half day city tour of Saigon highlights. Cu Chi tunnel has been used by the Vietnamese for centuries. The tunnels were the key part of guerilla warfare during the Vietnam war. Stretching hundreds of miles, the tunnels were dug by local people using shovels. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens. Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life in the American war must have been like.
8.00 am meet Asia Top Travel tour expert at your hotel lobby and depart for driving through pleasant countryside before arriving at Cu Chi.
We then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels where the Vietnamese could escape bombings, hide from enemy, and mount surprise attacks. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers.
After that, we drive back to Ho Chi Minh City arriving at approximately 1pm.
We are transfer to Pho 24 for some traditional Vietnamese noodle soup.
After lunch, we head back to Saigon and take city tour a half day. We start by looking at the Notre Dame Cathedral that was built between 1877 and 1883. This is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Nearby is the Old Post Office that is another example of French colonial architecture and is also the country’s largest post office.
Then, we move on to see the Reunification Palace. This is one of the most important buildings in the city. Here on April 30th 1975 the ‘American War’ officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam. After that, we continue to visit War Remnants Museum - Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war.
